“Where do the lonely people go when they want some lovin’” 2023 (SOLD)
Collage on off-white Rivoli paper backed with foam board. Drawing in archival black ink pen originally entitled “Howl About Never” and dated: “post manic-episode on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 (drawn Thurs).” A still image from the film La Notte by Michelangelo Antonioni, the screenshot shows Monica Vitti (who often collaborated with Antonioni) walking through a deserted field with what look like factories in the distant background. The image was printed on acetate and laid over the drawing of a tortured figure in bed. The title is a lyric from a song by Niamh’s father. Their father hand wrote the lyric and sent it through the cloud from England to New York City where Niamh printed it and added it as a new title on a night of desperate loneliness in the aftermath of divorce. Divorce can put you to sleep for days: Niamh sometimes disappears.
